What are networks?

UWLSU Networks are community groups within your SU to help you connect with other students, create opportunities and address equality gaps in different groups of our student body. They exist to make positive change that will improve your experience - for anyone that identifies as a member of each community.

Our current networks are:

LGBTQ+ Network

Women's Network

ACE (Aspire Collaborate, Empower) Network (For Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Students)

Student Parent and Carers Network

Accessibility Network

Mature Student Network

All our Liberation Networks consist of:

  1. Student Societies - Societies who are informally affiliated to a Network and whose activity aligns with a Network's values and aims. Like Networks, Societies are also part of UWLSU.
  2. Network Leads - Network Leads are students who work closely with the Community and Belonging Team as volunteers to help us shape events and campaigns focussed on the particular network.

Networks help us to ensure we are acting with liberation and inclusion in mind.  Our Networks recognise the intersections of identity and it is possible to self-define into one, some, or all of our Networks. Networks often collaborate together to achieve positive, powerful change for their respective communities.

We collaborate with each Network to celebrate Liberation Months throughout the year in partnership with UWL, Societies and Sports Teams; these include Black History Month, Disability History Month, Trans Awareness Week, Women’s History Month and LGBTQ+ History Month.
