Welcome to the UWL Sikh Society

Sikh society is built upon the principles of equality, community service, and devotion to God. Rooted in the teachings of  the ten Sikh Gurus, it promotes a just and inclusive way of life. Sikhism emerged in the Punjab region of India in the 15th century and has since grown into a global faith with millions of followers.

Core Values of Sikh Society
Equality (Sarbat da Bhala)
Seva (Selfless Service)
Hard Work (Kirat Karni)
Naam Japna (Meditation on God’s Name)
Sharing (Vand Chakna)

Role of Women
Sikhism advocates gender equality, allowing women to participate equally in religious and social activities. Sikh Guru's opposed societal norms that restricted women’s rights, promoting their dignity and freedom.

Sikh society remains a vibrant and progressive community, continually working towards justice, unity, and humanitarian service.
