About us:
We are a sports society aimed at everybody from first-timers to experienced climbers. The climbing society provides an opportunity to challenge yourself, build your fitness level and get involved in our weekly socials in a relaxed, no-pressure environment with students from a range of courses and backgrounds.
What do we do?
Currently, our main focus is bouldering which is climbing without the need for ropes or harnesses on shorter walls which is perfect if you’re not a fan of heights. We also offer opportunities to boulder outdoors, finishing with a fun-filled week-long summer outdoor bouldering trip to Fontainebleau in France. For those interested in rope climbing, we are currently working towards offering opportunities to learn and participate in rope climbing. Stay tuned!
Our regular climbing sessions are on Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m. at Ravenswall near Ravenscourt Park Station in Hammersmith which is roughly 35 minutes from UWL St. Mary’s Road campus. We will usually meet at Freddie's Bar at 7 p.m. and leave from there. However, it's possible there may not always be people available to meet beforehand, in which case we would meet at Ravenswall. If you are unsure how to get to Ravenswall and would like to meet someone at Freddie's beforehand, please reach out via our Whatsapp group (DM us on instagram for link). There are also opportunities to climb on other days and at different climbing walls depending on availability, this is arranged through our members’ Whatsapp group.
In addition, we meet up for regular socials including karaoke, open mic night, pub crawls and film nights.
