Introducing the Sports Access Fund

Here at UWLSU, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to excel—both in the classroom and on the field. That's why we're excited to announce the launch of the Sports Access Fund, a new initiative designed to support students who need financial assistance to participate in some of our sports activities. This award was made possible by the generous supporters of the UWL Help to Achieve Fund

What is the Sports Access Fund Scholarship?

The Sports Access Fund Scholarship is an award aimed at providing financial relief for students who demonstrate a passion for sports and athletics, but face financial barriers that may hinder their ability to compete in any of our student-led sports at the University of West London Students' Union. This grant offers reimbursement for membership fees, covering the cost of joining sports groups.

Who Can Apply?

The Sports Access fund is designed to help enrolled UWL students who face financial barriers to participate fully in extracurricular activities. To qualify, you need to have accessed one of the following bursaries or grants provided by the University of West London; or by any of the external funding organisations listed below. 

This includes: 

  • The Full-Time Undergraduate Bursary - for students whose household income is less than £28,000 

  • Path to Success Bursary – for students who is enrolled in foundation year 

  • Reasonable Adjustment Fund – for students who receive financial support from UWL 

  • You have a refugee status 

  • You are an international student and a recipient of financial support from an external Trust or Charities (Find scholarships recognised by UWL here).  

  • You are already accessing Student Support fund (SSF) or Help to Achieve fund 

You will be required to submit evidence to confirm you are receiving one of the above mentioned scholarships/bursaries along with your application form when applying for this fund, this could be official letters or emails from the university or external organisation confirming it.

How to Apply

To apply for the Sports Access Fund, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Compile all relevant evidence of recieving any of the above scholarships or funds.
  2. Open the application form

  3. Complete all questions

  4. Submit application

  5. Once the application window is closed, you will be contacted whether or not you were successful in recieving the Sports Access Fund.

  • Application Deadline: 6th of January 2025
  • Notification of Application: 31st January 2025
